Overview:
The University of Regina is a comprehensive, mid-sized university that traces its roots back to the creation of Regina College in 1911. The College grew in size and significance and became an independent degree-granting university – the University of Regina – in 1974. It’s a Canadian public research university that’s situated in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1925, when it was still a junior college, the Methodist Church of Canada founded the Regina Campus of the University of Saskatchewan, which began awarding degrees in 1961. The Regina Campus was originally founded as a private denominational high school of the Methodist Church of Canada. In 1974, it attained university autonomy. Over 15,000 students attend the University of Regina full- and part-time. The Carillon, the university’s student newspaper, is a part of CUP.

Facilities:
The University of Regina’s Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport (CKHS) is managed and supervised by the Facilities Services department. Modern multipurpose venue, the CKHS hosts local, regional, national, and international events all year round.
Since it first opened, the CKHS has hosted a number of high-profile national competitions, including the 2014 North American Indigenous Games (basketball, volleyball, and wrestling venues), the 2009 CIS Women’s Basketball National Championships, the 2013 CIS Women’s Basketball National Championships, and the 2005 Canada Summer Games (basketball and volleyball venues).
The University of Regina community is meant to use these facilities for both educational and recreational purposes. Facilities may be utilized by the general public for recreational activities in compliance with the terms and conditions of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies when not in use for academic, athletic, and recreational sports programs or other University-related events.
Gym: The Centre features a 25,000-square-foot three-court gymnasium with retractable bleacher seating for up to 2,000 spectators, two multipurpose gymnasiums, an elevated 200-meter four-lane running track, large fitness Centre, an Aquatics Centre, lecture and classroom facilities, teaching and research laboratories, an artificial turf field and two natural grass fields.
Indoor Facilities: When not being used for academic, athletic, or recreational sports programs or other university-related activities, the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport’s indoor facilities may be used by the general public. Outdoor Facilities: When not in use for academic, athletic, and recreational sports programs or other university-related activities, the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport’s outdoor facilities may be used by the general public.
Meeting Rooms: The CKHS building has a wide variety of conference rooms to accommodate organizations of any size.
A white board, huge conference tables, and movable seats are provided in every meeting space. AV Services may arrange for any additional equipment that is needed, such as projectors, smart boards, or media carts.
Swimming Pool: The Aquatic Center of the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport features a 25-meter indoor swimming pool with a depth range of 4 feet to 4 feet 6 inches and a separate 12-foot deep diving tank.
The community of the University of Regina is meant to use the pool for both educational and recreational purposes. However, the pool may be reserved by the general public for activities in line with the rules and regulations of the Faculty of Kinesiology when it is not in use for academic, athletic, and recreational sports programs or other University-related events. Local swim clubs, student organizations at universities, birthday celebrations, private events, and public-school reservations are a few examples of frequent bookings.
Locker Rentals: The public restrooms are situated on the main level of the former Physical Activity Centre wing of the CKHS, across from the two former gymnasiums and the Facility Services Center (also known as the Equipment Room). At the Recreation and Athletic Services Office (CK 170, main floor, Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport), call 306-585-4371 to rent or renew a locker. At the equipment desk (CK 119), arrangements can be made to pick up your lock after business hours.
