Southern Cross University (SCU), a public university in Australia, has campuses in Lismore and Coffs Harbour in northern New South Wales, as well as Coolangatta, the southernmost suburb of the Gold Coast in Queensland. Southern Cross University had tremendous growth in the early 1990s as it transitioned from a Teachers College in the 1970s to a full-fledged university with its own identity in 1994. On the east coast of Australia, Southern Cross University has many campuses. Nine research centers are housed within the university, all of which have strong linkages to the communities they serve and a dedication to producing research that is relevant to the world at large, whether it is in the fields of marine ecology, organic farming, plant and geoscience, adolescent development, or flood prevention. Based on applicants’ prior academic records and grades, this 29-year-old Australian higher education school maintains a stringent admissions procedure. This Australian higher education school is somewhat selective with an acceptance rate range of 70–79%. Applications from prospective international students are encouraged.
