The Aarhus University was established in 1928 and now boasts a number of top-tier research areas. The second-oldest and biggest research university in Denmark is called Aarhus University (AU).

Aarhus University is a public research university with its main campus in Aarhus, Denmark (Danish: Aarhus Universitet, abbreviated AU). It is Denmark’s second-oldest and second-largest university. The institution is a member of the European institution Association as well as the Coimbra Group, Guild, and Utrecht Network of European Universities.

The university was established in 1928 in Aarhus, Denmark, and contains twenty-seven departments in its five colleges of arts, natural sciences, technical sciences, health, business, and social sciences. More than thirty renowned research institutions, including fifteen centers of excellence supported by the Danish National Research Foundation, are located there. The university is one of the top 100 universities in the world. Aarhus University is ranked among the top 10 most attractive universities in Europe by Times Higher Education for the year 2018.

It has a long history of collaborations with some of the top universities and research networks in the world. The institution wants to help with the complicated global problems that the globe is now confronting. Therefore, the institution works to integrate research in innovative ways and address problems in close touch with the outside world by fusing the high academic standards of its researchers with cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Facilities:

The students at Aarhus University have access to a wide range of programs and services. Numerous libraries, Student House Aarhus, Dale’s Café, Klubben bar, and institution Park are all part of the institution. Additionally, all university students are welcome to participate in Aarhus University Sports (AUS), which hosts a variety of events like badminton, fencing, and chess.

International Student House: The International Student House, a component of Studenterhus Aarhus, was established with the goal of fostering relationships between Danish and foreign students through a range of initiatives. International Nights are weekly social gatherings that occasionally feature live music at the International Student House. Additionally, the volunteer organization IGroup plans a variety of events for both Danish and foreign students, including pub quizzes, stand-up comedy shows, and excursions to Danish tourist spots.

AU Library: A variety of services are available to students at AU Library. Perhaps you need assistance organizing your references or locating specific material. You can get readings for your course on the AU Library’s website that you might not have access to through Blackboard. Additionally, you can borrow and reserve books that are beneficial for your study. There are AU libraries on every campus. Every library has airy reading rooms and wifi, and many of them are open all the time.

Studenterhus Aarhus: The Studenterhus Aarhus serves as the primary gathering place for both Danish and foreign students in the city. The Tuesday “International Night,” a weekly dinner club, theme parties, and film evenings are just a few of the regular events that are planned throughout the year for social and cultural activities and performances. If you want to meet other students, both Danes and foreigners, the Studenterhus Aarhus is the ideal location to go. Additionally, volunteering is an option.

Friday Bars: Each department sets up a little bar in a cafeteria or a classroom every Friday at noon where they sell beer and soft drinks. This is a fantastic way to start the weekend and a nice location to socialize with instructors and other students over a drink.

Counselling and assistance: For foreign students who encounter study-related challenges brought on by dyslexia or other physical, mental, or behavioral problems, the Counseling and Support Center provides counseling and help. They provide totally professional secrecy and free counseling. Additionally, there are student counsellors who are seasoned students and offer advice to other students in their field. If you want extra assistance, they will be able to assist you or recommend a place to go.

Reading rooms: At the AU Library, Aarhus BSS, political science, psychology, and law students all have access to the same reading rooms. The AU Library, Aarhus BSS has two spacious reading areas as well as several reading nooks amongst the bookcases. The top floors of buildings 1331 and 1332 have additional contemporary, roomy reading areas and meeting rooms. The multi-room next to the canteen, known as Forhistorisk informally, is frequently busy with study groups and students taking breaks.

Canteen: You may have lunch or a cup of coffee with your fellow students in our roomy, well-lit canteen. The canteen kitchen offers a wide selection of wholesome, home-cooked meals. Every day, hot meals that include both traditional Danish fare and cuisine with an international flair are freshly cooked and served. You may have handcrafted sandwiches, organic fruit, bread and pastries from the campus bakery, or organic fruit as a snack.

Ranking:

One of Denmark’s biggest and second-oldest research universities is Aarhus University. From 2016 through 2021, the Academic Ranking of World institutions (Shanghai Ranking) constantly placed Aarhus outside the top 100 institutions worldwide. It still produces high-caliber faculty and research. Additionally, Aarhus’ THE global university rating increased from 123 in 2019 to 106 in 2021. It is evident that the institution has made improvements to both its teaching and research.

Since 2018, US News & World Report has consistently ranked Aarhus among the top 110 foreign institutions, demonstrating that the university has continued to uphold its position as a regional and international leader in research. However, if we look at the QS (Top universities) global university rating, we can see that Aarhus has fallen over time. In 2017, it was ranked 117, and in 2021, it was ranked 147. Therefore, people who place a lot of stress on the educational institution’s reputation in the academic community should carefully consider Aarhus’ qualifications.

Top Courses at Aarhus University:

The university has been divided into five main academic divisions as of January 1, 2020: The Faculty of Science and Technology, Natural Sciences Departments, Arts, Aarhus BSS, which includes the previous Faculty of Social Sciences and the Aarhus School of Business, and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
