Overview: 

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, a non-profit public higher education institution, is situated in the metropolitan environment of Minneapolis, a midsize city in Minnesota with a population between 250,000 and 499,999. The Twin Cities campus is spread across two campuses, roughly 3 miles (4.8 km) apart between Minneapolis and Falcon Heights, a St. Paul suburb. With 52,376 students enrolled at the start of the 2021–22 academic year, the Twin Cities campus, the oldest and biggest in the University of Minnesota system, has the ninth-largest main campus student body in the US. The University of Minnesota System’s flagship institution is divided into 19 colleges, schools, and other significant academic entities.

Seven years before Minnesota became a state, in 1851, the Minnesota territory Legislature created a charter establishing the University of Minnesota as a territory university. The institution is now categorized as one of the “R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity” institutions. With $1.04 billion spent on R&D in the fiscal year 2020, Minnesota, a member of the Association of American Universities, is rated 20th in research activity. The University of Minnesota was included among Public Ivy schools in 2001.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are a member of the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference and participate in 21 college sports. They have won 29 national titles. As of 2021, 76 Olympic medals have been earned by Minnesota’s current and previous students. 26 Nobel Prizes and 3 Pulitzer Prizes have been earned by academics, graduates, and researchers from the University of Minnesota. The institution has 134 Fulbright winners, 25 Rhodes Scholars, 7 Marshall Scholars, 21 Truman Scholars, and 25 Rhodes Scholars among its graduates.

 

Facilities:

Pool Availability: At RecWell, there are several options to go swimming. We offer a number of locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul where anybody with an interest may access events, programs, and open recreational possibilities. All members have access to the pools.

Bell Museum: The Bell Museum’s magnificent facility, which is tucked away on the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul campus, provides distinctive event rooms, ranging in size from the small to the large. No matter how big or how little, every event held in Minnesota’s official natural history museum is likely to be extraordinary.

Library: The 12 locations of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities library. The library’s collection includes both tangible materials (such books, media, etc.) and digital and electronic resources. 4,133,437 physical volumes, 1,066,463 physical media, 262,027 digital/electronic media, and 77 licensed digital/electronic databases were reported by the library in 2021. The library is managed by a total number of 311 full-time employees, including 103 librarians. The library at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities spends more than $100,000 annually overall.

Ted Mann Concert Hall: A top-notch performance venue, Ted Mann performance Hall was established in 1993. With 1,126 seats, standing room, and non-fixed seating choices, this venue overlooks the banks of the Mississippi River. It provides a comprehensive concert programming calendar that includes performances by School of Music ensembles, teachers, and guest artists. The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Joe Henderson Trio, Martha Graham Dance Company, Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Dale Warland Singers, Bobby McFerrin, Chanticleer, and the Schubert Club are just a few of the notable performers or master classes featured on a separate programming schedule.

 

Ranking:

According to US News & World Report, the University of Minnesota sees a persistent decline in its national rankings. University of Minnesota’s rankings declined from #76 in 2019 to #70 in 2020, then further plummeted to settle at #66 in 2021. The decline in rankings attests to University of Minnesota’s position among the top 100 US universities and to an upward or positive trend in the ranking graph. ACT and SAT test scores, class rank, reference letters, and prior acceptance rates for admission are just a few of the variables that affect rankings. The admission rate for University of Minnesota Admissions was 57% in 2020. For admission, only those with ACT or SAT scores above average were considered. As a result of these criteria, the global rankings are also influenced.
