Overview: 

La Trobe University is a public research university that is situated in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The area of Bundoora is home to the institution’s main campus. The institution was founded in 1964, making it the third university in Victoria and the twelfth in all of Australia. La Trobe is a member of the Innovative Research Universities alliance and one of Australia’s prestigious universities and it is one of the top 1% of institutions in the world. The original and main campus of La Trobe is situated in the northern Melbourne district of Bundoora, which is part of the greater Melbourne metropolitan region. With a total area of approximately 267 hectares (660 acres), it is the largest metropolitan campus in the nation. The remote Victorian city of Bendigo and the twin border communities of Albury-Wodonga are home to its other two significant campuses. In addition to the metropolitan campuses in the central business districts of Melbourne and Sydney, there are two smaller regional campuses in Mildura and Shepparton.
