The University of Bedfordshire is honored to be a globally renowned organization that has garnered various accolades. As Bedford Training College for Teachers, which subsequently changed its name to Bedford Physical Training College in 1903, the University of Bedfordshire was initially founded in 1882. It became the University of Luton in 1993, when it was granted university status. In order to become the University of Bedfordshire, the campuses of the Universities of Luton and De Montfort united in Bedford in 2006.
